Privacy Policy — Maths Sparks: Little Learners

Our promise to you: Maths Sparks: Little Learners is designed for young children and their families. We take privacy — especially children's privacy — extremely seriously. This policy explains clearly and honestly exactly how the app works and what data, if any, is involved.

1. About the App

Maths Sparks: Little Learners is a fun, interactive maths app created by AQTECH / Forge Academy for nursery and early years children (ages 2–6). It covers counting, shapes, patterns, size, addition, time, money, and position through age-appropriate activities.

The app is designed to be used by young children with parental guidance. No account or sign-up is required to use the app.

2. Information We Collect

What we do NOT collect

No names, email addresses, or personal details
No photos, audio recordings, or camera access
No location data
No contacts or device contacts
No social media account data
No data that could identify a child personally

What is stored locally on your device

The app saves your child's progress and completed levels directly on your device using local storage (Hive). This data never leaves the device — it is not uploaded to any server, and it is deleted if you uninstall the app.

          Progress data stays on your device only. We cannot access it, and we do not transmit it.
        

3. Firebase & Cloud Content

The app uses Google Firebase Firestore to download question content (maths activities, rounds, and packs) when you first open the app. This content is cached on-device for use offline thereafter.

When the app fetches content from Firestore, Google may log standard server-side information (such as IP address and device type) as part of normal internet infrastructure operation. This is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not store any user-specific data in Firestore — only the shared maths question content that all users receive.

          No child data is ever written to Firebase. Firestore is read-only from the app's perspective.
        

4. Advertising (AdMob)

The free version of Maths Sparks: Little Learners displays banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. Ads are shown to support free access to the app.

Child-directed treatment

We have configured AdMob to serve non-personalised, child-directed ads only. This means:

Ads are not targeted based on personal data or browsing history
Interest-based advertising is disabled for all users of this app
Ad content is appropriate for a general / children's audience

AdMob may collect certain non-personally-identifiable technical data (such as device type and ad impression data) as described in Google's Privacy Policy and AdMob's data use policies.

          Premium upgrade: Removing all ads permanently is available as part of our premium upgrade within the app.
        

5. In-App Purchases

Maths Sparks: Little Learners offers optional one-time in-app purchases to unlock additional learning packs. Purchases are processed entirely by Google Play — we do not handle or store any payment card details.

Purchase history is managed by Google Play and can be restored at any time within the app. For full details, see Google Play's Terms of Service.

          We never see your payment details. All billing is handled securely by Google Play.
        

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

This app is directed at children under 13 and is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable data protection laws including UK GDPR and the Children's Code (Age Appropriate Design Code).

We do not knowingly collect, use, or share personal information from children under 13. The app requires no account creation, no login, and no personal information to function.

Parental controls

All in-app purchases require Google Play authentication, which parents can control via Google Family Link or device parental controls.
Ads can be permanently removed via a one-time purchase.
All locally stored progress data can be cleared by uninstalling the app.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from your child, please contact us immediately at the address below and we will delete it promptly.

7. Data Security & Retention

Since we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data for us to secure, retain, or delete. The only data that exists is:

Local progress data — Stored on your device, under your control, and deleted when you uninstall the app.
Aggregate ad/analytics data — Handled by Google under their own privacy and security standards.

We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties beyond what is described in this policy.

8. Third-Party Services

The app integrates only the following third-party services:

Google Firebase / Firestore — Content delivery (Firebase Privacy)
Google AdMob — Child-directed, non-personalised ads (Google Privacy Policy)
Google Play Billing — Secure in-app purchase processing

We do not use social media SDKs, analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or any other third-party tracking libraries.
